Villa Ozy
Puglia · Italy
A quiet, modern retreat between the olive groves and the sea.
Benvenuti
Villa Ozy sits in the open countryside between Carovigno and San Vito dei Normanni, a few minutes from the turquoise coves of the Adriatic and a short drive from the white-stone hill town of Ostuni. The villa is built in the local idiom — dry-laid limestone, lime-washed walls, barrel-vaulted ceilings of chiancarelle — and finished with a clean, contemporary hand.
Outside, a long mirror-still pool runs through a grove of ancient olive trees. A bamboo-shaded terrace stretches the length of the house, set for long lunches that drift into the cicada-loud afternoon. Inside, stone vaults and pale plaster keep the rooms cool, even in August.
It is, simply, a good place to stop moving for a week.
The essentials
A long, sun-warmed pool among the olive trees, with loungers and a shaded terrace alongside.
Traditional stella and barrel vaults of local stone, paired with soft modern furnishings.
Set within a private grove of mature olive trees — your own quiet patch of Apulian countryside.
A long bamboo-shaded pergola for slow breakfasts, aperitivo and dinners under the festoon lights.
Climate control in every bedroom, plus the natural cool of thick stone walls.
The Torre Guaceto nature reserve and the beaches of Specchiolla and Punta Penna Grossa are a short drive.
A bright kitchen opening onto the garden — well-equipped for cooking with what you pick up at the market.
Fast Wi-Fi for the few who need it; silence for everyone else.
The spaces
The heart of the villa is a long, light-filled room beneath a barrel vault of stacked stone. A wood-burner anchors one end, the kitchen the other, and tall glass doors fold open onto the terrace and the garden beyond.
A second sitting room — quieter, with a deep sofa, a low table and a view of the pool — opens off to the side.
Each bedroom sits beneath its own stone vault, finished in soft plaster, linen and natural wood. The principal room takes an iron bed under a glowing chiancarelle vault; the others share the same quiet, restful palette.
Every room has air conditioning and blackout shutters.
A bamboo-roofed pergola runs the length of the south side of the house, set with a long table for eight and threaded with festoon lights for dinner. There is a barbecue, a second outdoor sitting area, and an open-air stone basin for rinsing feet and watering glasses of wine.
The pool is long, simple, and lit at night. Around it, mature olive trees give shade through the day. After sunset, the trees are uplit and the festoon lights come on — the garden becomes a room of its own.
